Stephen Curry Overnight Camp
August 20, 2013
Warriors Basketball Camp hosted the Stephen Curry Overnight Camp at Stevenson School in Pebble Beach from August 17-20, where campers learned the fundamentals of basketball and shooting tips from one of the best guards in the NBA.
Curry’s first-ever overnight camp hosted 120 youth ages 9-16.
The campers had the opportunity to work on their game and improve their skills…
…as well as listen to lectures from the fifth-year pro and learn Curry’s personal workout routine.
The youth even had the chance to hang out and eat dinner with the Warriors guard.
The four-day camp allowed the campers to work on a variety of skills, from ball handling…
…to 5-on-5 scrimmages.
Some campers were lucky enough to play Curry one-on-one.
Actively involved in the drills and scrimmages, Curry was intent on helping each camper reach their potential.
His father, Dell Curry, was also at the camp to help teach the youth the fundamentals of the game.
On the final day of camp, the youth were treated to a performance by the Warriors acrobatic dunk team, the Flying Dubs.
Earlier in the week Curry surprised the campers (and everyone else) by throwing down a few dunks of his own.
An Instagram video of the dunks even went viral and was featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays.
After a thrilling performance by the Flying Dubs, the day concluded with lunch and an awards ceremony.
Chipotle graciously provided a delicious lunch for campers, families, and staff to enjoy.
Parents and family members were invited to join the campers for the awards ceremony and help congratulate the youth on a successful week.
Director of youth basketball Jeff Addiego welcomed everyone and spoke briefly about the memorable experience created over the last four days.
Next, Warriors television analyst Jim Barnett conducted a Q&A with Curry about his time at the camp.
Curry talked about how much fun he had and how impressed he was with each camper’s work ethic.
Like every Warriors Basketball Camp, there were awards for individual and team accomplishments.
Campers received awards such as Most Improved, Hustle Award, Stephen Curry Skills Competition Champion, 2ball Champions, and MVP.
Nathaneal U. walked away with the Chipotle Camper of the Week award.
Once the awards were handed out, the campers and their families had a chance to mingle and pose for photographs with Curry.
The Warrior Girls were there as well, signing autographs and taking photos.
Curry’s Overnight Camp was a special experience for everyone involved.
The campers had a wonderful time improving their game and enjoyed learning from one of the best players and shooters in the NBA today.
Warriors Basketball Camp has been teaching the game of basketball to kids across Northern California since the summer of 2000.
