August 6, 2013
Harrison Barnes is currently traveling through China with the NBA Nation tour, making stops in Qingdao and Tianjin.
NBA Nation, the NBA’s largest mobile basketball playground, gives fans a chance to enjoy basketball contests, interact with NBA players, and pose with the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy.
The first stop was in Qingdao where thousands of fans welcomed Barnes.
First, Barnes hosted a shooting clinic for a few lucky fans.
He also conducted a basketball clinic for 60 youth as part of the NBA Fit program.
Barnes and the youth went through several basketball related drills and exercise routines.
To end the day Barnes spoke to the media about his time in China so far.
Before leaving, Barnes posed for pictures and signed autographs for his fans.
Both the fans and Barnes were excited to spend time together.
On August 6, Barnes attended the NBA Global Games 2013: Harrison Barnes Fan Day in Shanghai.
Afterwards, Barnes hosted a basketball clinic for 60 fans selected by the Sports Bureau and NBA Sina and Tencent weibo.
The fans had the chance to play Barnes one-on-one, practice their offensive and defensive skills, and compete in drills.
Barnes selected three fans through a random drawing to receive two tickets each to the Warriors vs. Lakers game in Shanghai this October.
Later in the day, Barnes visited a lucky fan’s home to personally deliver tickets for him and his family to the Warriors vs. Lakers game in Shanghai.
He also spent time with the family, talking about the excitement of the Global Games in Shanghai and the rise of the Warriors as well as playing video games (NBA 2k).
The family even taught Barnes how to cook Shanghai dumplings.
It was a very special day for both the family and Barnes.
In between NBA Nation stops, Barnes was able to visit a few of China’s most popular destinations, such as Tiananmen Square…
…and the Forbidden City.
