2013 NBA All-Star: David Lee
January 24, 2013
Congratulations to David Lee, who has been named to the 2013 NBA All-Star West team!
This marks the first time that the Warriors have had a player named to the All-Star team since Latrell Sprewell in 1997.
This is Lee’s second All-Star selection, as he was a member of the Eastern Conference squad in 2010 while playing for the New York Knicks.
David Lee earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors for games played 12/10-16, his second career Player of the Week honor and first in the Western Conference. In four games that week, Lee averaged 22.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.00 steal while shooting .606 (40-of-66) from the field, posting 20 points and 10 rebounds in each game helping lead the Warriors to a 3-1 record to help complete a season-long, seven-game road trip with a franchise record 6-1 mark.
As of January 28, Lee is averaging 19.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 37.6 minutes in 42 games this season, while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 80.7 percent from the free throw line.
Among NBA leaders, he ranks sixth in rebounds, 12th in scoring, and 14th in minutes.
David Lee also ranks second in double-doubles (27).
Among power forwards, he ranks second in both scoring and rebounding.
Lee Is the only player in the league averaging at least 19 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
Also, he's the only player in the league averaging a double-double while shooting at least 50 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Lee ranks third in the league with 480 points in the paint (behind only LeBron James and Black Griffin).
The eighth-year forward has posted at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in a game 17 times this season (most in the NBA).
Lee enjoyed a 12-game streak from December 3-22 with at least 20 points, eight rebounds and .500 shooting, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Shaquille O’Neal as the only players in NBA history with such a streak.
In the team’s seven-game road trip (12/5-15), Lee had 20 points and 10 rebounds in each game, becoming the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (9, 1/26-2/9/72) to post 20 and 10 in each game of a road trip of seven-or-more games and the first Warrior since Wilt Chamberlain (8, 12/26/64-1/6/65) to do so.
David Lee became the 10th player in franchise history to record multiple triple-doubles in a Warriors uniform, tallying 23 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists on 12/21 vs. Charlotte, his third career triple-double and second with the Warriors (all have occured at Oracle Arena). Only Lee, Rajon Rondo and Joakim Noah have triple-doubles in each of the last two seasons.
Lee has scored 20-plus in 20 of the last 26 games, averaging 20.2 points on .528 shooting from the field during that span.
The Warriors are 19-9 in games in which Lee grabs double-digit rebounds.
Once again ... Congratulations, David!
The 62nd NBA All-Star Game will be played at the Toyota Center in Houston on Sunday, February 17, 2013 (5:00 p.m. PT), televised exclusively on TNT and broadcast exclusively on ESPN Radio in the U.S.
