Looking Back On Opening Night And Ahead To The Swimsuit Calendar Release Party
by Thera

Three years of Warrior Girl experience didn't stop Thera from having the Opening Night jitters. (photo: Rocky Widner/NBAE/Getty)
You would think that after three seasons, the Opening Night jitters were a thing of the past. But, as it is every year (and, actually, even more this year), my nerves got the best of me the moment it went "Lights Out."

From the day it was announced that the Warriors had been sold to a new ownership group headed by Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, we knew that the Warrior Girls needed to make a great first impression this season. With the new owners, a new logo, new uniforms and a new court to dance on, the pressure was on.

A lot of preparation went into our Opening Night performances and not everything went as smoothly as we hoped. New uniforms had to be made with the new colors, and costume fittings weren't always so successful. Also, the boots we usually danced with on the court were damaging the new floor and needed to be changed. But, in the end, we overcame all obstacles and every Warrior Girl looked so beautiful in their new blue and yellow outfits! (I especially love the new sparkling dresses we wore for the opening number.) All of the routines looked great and winning the home-opener was just icing on the cake. As I left Oracle Arena that night, I remember thinking to myself, "This will be a great season."

With 41 (and hopefully more) home games to prepare for, an extremely large amount of time is spent together with the dance team. In my experience, the Warrior Girls become a family and this year will be no different. I was already excited to be working with some amazing dancers after the new dance team was announced. But now, after such a great start, Iím even more excited to be working with just a group of fun-loving girls! Ever since our first meeting on August 13th, we've been working really hard, but it's also been nothing but fun while getting to know the girls.

You can get to know them, too, through our new and improved Warrior Girls web page right here on warriors.com! There, you will find a new layout that includes bios, photo galleries, videos, and our new desktop wallpaper for you to download and enjoy every time you turn on your computer. Right now, you can even get a behind-the-scenes look at our 2011 swimsuit calendar photo shoot!

Speaking of the 2011 swimsuit calendar, we Warrior Girls are very excited for the Calendar Release Party that will be held on December 2nd when the Warriors take on the Phoenix Suns . Save more than 50 percent and get a game ticket and calendar for only $25! You will also get a chance to have your new calendar autographed by every single member on the dance team, so come see us! We always love meeting the fans. I truly believe the Warriors have the most enthusiastic and dedicated fans in the NBA.

The anticipation for the release of the calendar has been endless. The photo shoot took place on September 14th and 15th at the beautiful Cache Creek Casino Resort. Each girl was scheduled to shoot at different times of each day to make the process more efficient, and I ended up being the very last girl on the list. Throughout both days, multiple texts and e-mails were being sent out stating how much fun each girl had at their photo shoot and how they felt really good with the results. This only made me feel more excited for my own.

When I showed up two hours prior to my shoot to get my hair and make-up done, Lisa and Sierra were just stepping out to take their pictures at the golf course. They looked gorgeous! But because I had to get ready for my own pictures, I couldnít watch them during their photo shoot. This was a common theme throughout the two days, so you can imagine how eager we all are for the calendar release party. Not only will it be the first time we see each others' photo and the calendar itself, but it will also be the first time we see our own pictures! Yes, after the photo shoot, we donít get the opportunity to see any proofs before the calendar is released. But, I can tell you that our photographer, Robbie Hitchcock (and his team), is a genius and will not disappoint you. I felt extremely comfortable with my photo shoot, which ended just as the sun was setting. My teammates and I have nothing but positive things to say about those two blissful days at Cache Creek. So, on behalf of the Warrior Girls, please come celebrate this exciting moment with all of us! We hope to see you there at the Calendar Release Party!
