The transfer of ownership has dominated Warriors news this week, as Joe Lacob and Peter Guber have visited every single news outlet in the Bay Area and Northern California. OK, I made that up, but it seemed like they were everywhere. In case you missed some of their media tour and would like to get to know them better, click here.
By the way, one of the coolest moments in my Warriors broadcasting career occurred on Monday night at Oracle Arena when Lacob and Guber were introduced to the crowd at the end of the first quarter. Lacob joined me on the radio in the third quarter, and when I asked him about it, he admitted to me that he got very emotional in that moment. Listen below:
Tim Roye Interviews Joe Lacob - 11/15/10
A great beginning for the Warriors and I’ll tell you why. All three of the Warriors’ Big 3,(Ellis, Lee and Curry) if you will, have all been banged up at one point or another. They are winning games that they can win and in my mind only the Detroit game at the Palace is one that really got away. The game in Chicago was a schedule loss – back end of a back-to-back – to a really good team and Milwaukee is sneaky good. At this point, I think the Warriors have done a good job of giving themselves a chance to win without Lee.
It’s early in the season and you owe it to yourself to check out these interviews with Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports and Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com:
When is David Lee coming back? I think we really miss him.
Thanks, Kevin in San Francisco
The good news is that David is out of the hospital. For the official statement released by the team, click here.
And, for good measure, here is what Head Coach Keith Smart said when asked about David Lee at practice today:
