Top-Tier Prospects Visit Warriors Headquarters

The Warriors have been bringing in draft prospects to team headquarters for a few weeks now, but today’s pre-draft workout carried a little more significance. For the first time this year, projected lottery selections took to the Warriors’ practice court. The six participants in today’s workout included Terrence Jones (Kentucky), Tyler Zeller (North Carolina), Perry Jones III (Baylor), Festus Ezeli (Vanderbilt), Jet Chang (BYU – Hawaii) and Patrick Richard (McNeese State).

Terrence Jones, a 6-foot-9 small forward who concluded his two-year collegiate career with a national championship at Kentucky, discussed the workout with Warriors TV’s R.C. Davis:

Because the Warriors were waiting on the results of the NBA Draft Lottery to find out whether or not they would have their first round pick, the team wasn’t able to schedule pre-draft workouts for the top-tier prospects prior to today. Instead, they brought in players that could potentially be available with the 30th, 35th and 52nd picks. But now that they are in possession of the seventh pick of this year’s draft, a lot of the biggest names in this year’s draft class will start making their way to Downtown Oakland to audition for the Warriors. As these workouts take place, look for even more activity and adjustments to the ever-so-popular Mock Drafts.

Our coverage from today’s workout isn’t even close to complete. In the coming days, we’ll be bringing you video of a film study session between broadcaster Jim Barnett and Perry Jones III, as well as an interview with Zeller.
