Plenty Of Local Talent In 2012 Draft Class

If you’ve noticed some familiar names on the Warriors pre-draft workout participant list, you’re not alone. Even if you just browse the headlines of your local paper and don’t follow Bay Area high school or collegiate sports that closely, there’s a good chance you have become familiar with the names of Jorge Gutierrez, Jared Cunningham, Wendell McKines and several other 2012 NBA Draft hopefuls in recent years.

The Bay Area has long been a basketball hotspot. From basketball icon Bill Russell to future Hall of Famer Jason Kidd, the gyms and playgrounds in and around the Bay Area have produced some top-tier talent that has altered the course of NBA history.

Can Drew Gordon continue that proud Bay Area tradition in the NBA? The New Mexico forward became a star at Archbishop Mitty in San Jose and is expected to be a late first round or early second-round pick in next month’s NBA Draft. Gordon sat down for warriors.com after his workout with the team last week. Watch that video below and take note of several other prospects who have worked out recently at Warriors headquarters:
