New Warriors Head Coach Mark Jackson has promised that big things are coming and Bay Area basketball fans are ready for him to deliver. The NBA is back and we’ll soon find out if Coach Jackson can take the Warriors to the playoffs.
Jackson, along with Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Larry Riley, discussed the upcoming season with reporters on Thursday at Oracle Arena.
It has been said that Opening Night is like Christmas for a basketball fan, and come December 25, they will be one and the same. The NBA announced today that the Warriors will open their 2011-12 season on Christmas night against the Los Angeles Clippers, marking the second-consecutive season that the team will play a nationally televised game on December 25.
So yes, Opening Night is a little more than three weeks away, but you won’t have to wait that long for the action to begin. In fact, it already has. Lou Amundson was the first Warriors player to work out at the team's practice facility and the rest of the team is expected back soon at team headquarters in Downtown Oakland. Training camp doesn’t officially begin for another week, but it’d be safe to assume that the Warriors Practice Facility will be a hotbed of activity until that time.
