By this time next week, it will officially be basketball season for the Golden State Warriors. Training camp tips off with the annual media day festivities on Monday and the team will be hard at work at practice beginning on Tuesday.
Once practice begins, we should receive more of an idea of how the 2010-11 Warriors will shape up. With so many new faces on the team – 10 of the 14 current players on the roster were not with the Warriors at this time last year – the team’s ability to mesh on the court will certainly be one of the areas of focus throughout the preseason.
With that in mind, we here at warriors.com figured you might find it useful to have some detailed knowledge on some of the team’s new faces. Warriors radio broadcaster Tim Roye got the inside scoop on David Leeand Dorell Wright by recently speaking to a broadcaster from each player’s former team. Today, we take a deeper look at Louis Amundson and Rodney Carney.
The Warriors signed Amundson last week, and the forward quickly figures to be a key reserve for the team’s front court. He was a valuable member of the Phoenix Suns last season, and he should fit right in with a young and athletic team like the Warriors. Get more of an idea of Amundson’s game by listening to Warriors radio producer R.C. Davis’ interview with long-time Suns broadcaster Al McCoy:

Carney signed with the Warriors about a week before Amundson, and the former Philadelphia swingman also figures to play a valuable role for the Warriors. A tremendous athlete who has spent three of his four NBA seasons with the 76ers behind Andre Iguodala, Carney looks forward to contributing for the Warriors. Get a better feel for him in another interview conducted by Davis, this one with 76ers television broadcaster Marc Zumoff.

Stay tuned for much more coverage of the new and established Warriors players, as we will be back soon with full training camp coverage.
