Ronny Turiaf is close friends with FC Barcelona striker Thierry Henry.
As most Warriors fans know, big man Ronny Turiaf is a fun-loving guy. He’s one of the most genuine, good-natured guys in the world, let alone in the NBA, just as long as you don’t question his soccer skills.
During a conference call with Warriors Season Ticket Holders earlier today, Turiaf discussed how his first love was soccer and how he would have been the world’s best goalie had he not given a basketball a try. (Check out this photo to the right with his good friend Thierry Henry, a striker for FC Barcelona and star of the French national soccer team). Of course, he also discussed his profession and he certainly had some interesting insights on the 2009-10 Warriors. To listen to the call in its entirety, click here.
Fans can also hear what Head Coach Don Nelson had to say following today’s practice in the video below.
If you watched the video and didn’t like some of the questions, then call Nellie tonight with your own question. The Warriors coach will appear on a live edition of the Warriors Weekly Radio Show tonight at 9 p.m. on KNBR 680, and during his segments he will take questions directly from listeners phoning in. To ask Nellie your question, call 808-KNBR from any Bay Area area code beginning at 9 p.m. (Pacific), or e-mail your question to Tim Roye.

Monta Ellis Interview - 11/5/09
Before this season began, one of the team’s keys for success was how well Ellis and rookie Stephen Curry would play together. It’s difficult to access their success together after just three games, but as Turiaf pointed out during his conference call, they combined for 21 assists in Wednesday’s victory over the Grizzlies. Their match-up on Friday against the Clippers will be another one to watch out for as they go up against former Warrior Baron Davis and second-year standout Eric Gordon.
Curry has averaged 11.0 points and 6.7 assists over his first three NBA games. Get an inside look for how Curry feels about the season so far by reading his blog in GQ.

Four Days And Still No Games
The Warriors held one last practice on Tuesday before Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies. (warriors.com photo)
When an NBA team goes four games between games in the first week of the season, it has to do something to break up the monotony of practice. C.J. Watson visited an Alameda school on Monday and read to some kids, and Stephen Jackson tested out his football skills on Tuesday with Oakland Raiders long snapper Jon Condo (see video below).
The team went through a month of practices already during training camp and the preseason, so the last thing the players wanted was to have such a long layoff before their third game of the season, which finally comes on Wednesday when the Warriors host the Grizzlies. While some NBA teams have played as many as five games this season, the Warriors are stuck at two.
Following practice on Tuesday, Head Coach Don Nelson, Stephen Jackson and Anthony Randolph discussed the long layoff and much more. Watch their interviews in the video below:

A Look Back At Opening Night
After months of waiting, Warriors basketball stormed back to Oracle Arena last week. The NBA Draft, Summer League, Training Camp, the preseason – those were all great and all, but more than anything else, Warriors fans were hungry for some regular season action.
Those who came out to Oracle Arena last Wednesday witnessed some closely contested NBA action, plus a pregame production that shared many theatric characteristics with a Hollywood blockbuster. Take a closer look at Opening Night from the perspective of Warriors rookie Stephen Curry in the video below:
Curry and company will have the chance to return to Oracle Arena on Wednesday when the Warriors host the Memphis Grizzlies. A $10 Ticket Time Out is in place for this contest, allowing fans to purchase up to eight tickets for the game, as well as next Monday’s contest against the Timberwolves, for just $10 per seat.
With four days off between games, the Warriors have been hard at practice in preparation of Wednesday’s contest against the Grizzlies. Ronny Turiaf may miss the game due to a sprained left knee, and should that be the case, Anthony Randolph will see some time at the five, backing up starter Andris Biedrins. Head Coach Don Nelson said as much in his interview that followed practice on Monday. Listen to the interview and also catch what Monta Ellis had to say in the audio player below.

Moving On To Phoenix
Win or lose, Warriors players and coaches are often studying game film and scouting reports. (photo:Rocky Widner/NBAE/Getty)
One of the great things about the NBA is that the next game starts soon after the previous one finishes. The Warriors suffered a tough 108-107 defeat to the Rockets on Wednesday night in their season opener, but the team didn’t dwell on the loss. Instead, they immediately shifted their attention to Friday’s first road game of the season against the Phoenix Suns.
That’s not to say that Wednesday’s Opening Night defeat is 100 percent in the past. The coaching staff and players will still re-visit that contest through film, identify what went right vs. what went wrong and try to learn from their mistakes so they don’t repeat them again. A lot can be learned in studying film, which is why entire coaching staffs spend nearly every free moment in front of a television screen or laptop, and no, they’re usually not watching old episodes of “Friends” or tagging their friends in photos on Facebook.
Things learned in film study can be applied toward the next game, and there is no doubt that some of the adjustments the Warriors will make in Friday’s game will stem from what happened in Wednesday’s contest. Whether it is a certain combination of players, floor spacing or defensive strategy, coaches and players are constantly making adjustments to give their team the best chance to win.
Following practice today, we caught up with Head Coach Don Nelson. Hear his thoughts on Wednesday’s game and the team in general in the audio player below:
As one would expect, the team is ready to improve upon Wednesday’s performance, and they will have that chance soon enough. Friday’s action in Phoenix will tip off at 7 p.m., and fans will be able to catch the action on CSN Bay Area (HD) and KNBR 680.
Also, be sure to catch the Warriors Weekly Radio Show tonight at 9 p.m. on KNBR 680. Tonight’s show will feature interviews with Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins and much more. If you can’t listen to the show tonight, we’ll have an archived version of the show available for you on Friday. To access all prior clips of the Warriors Weekly Radio Show, click here .

Opening Night is Here!
Warriors fans erupted in cheers when the lights went out for pre-game introductions. (photo:Rocky Widner/NBAE/Getty)
Welcome to Opening Night! The Warriors and Rockets are just getting things underway here at Oracle Arena, and as usual the Warriors fans have made the venue one of the loudest buildings in the NBA.
A measly bridge closure did nothing to dissuade the Warriors faithful from showing up. The crowd may have been a bit on the tardy side of things due to heavy traffic throughout the Bay Area, but by the time tonight’s action tipped off, nearly the entire sold out crowd had found its way to their seats.
If you’re a resident of the Bay Area, you don’t need a reminder of the headache caused by the closure of the Bay Bridge. Like everyone else, the Warriors players and coaches dealt with it, planned around it and went on with their day. The Rockets did the same. With their team hotel located in San Francisco, Trevor Ariza, Shane Battier and the rest of the team took a ferry across the Bay to get to the game.
Prior to the game, Anthony Morrow was recognized for leading the NBA in three-point shooting percentage last season. (photo:Rocky Widner/NBAE/Getty)
Prior to tonight’s action, Anthony Morrow was presented with his trophy for leading the NBA in three-point percentage last season. Morrow shot 46.7 percent from long distance last season, becoming the first-ever rookie to lead the league in that category. Warriors fans gave Morrow a loud ovation in recognition of his efforts last season, and the cheers reached a near frenzy during pre-game introductions.

Warriors Hold Final Practice Before Opening Night

For a full game preview of the Warriors' season opener, including videos, audio interviews and expected starting lineups, click here.
The Warriors spent their final day before the start of the 2009-10 season back at practice, which featured much less crowd noise than Monday’s Open Practice at Oracle Arena. Following the workout, we caught up with Head Coach Don Nelson, Monta Ellis and Stephen Jackson. Watch their interviews in the video below.
Prior to Wednesday's Opening Night contest against the Rockets, the Warriors will hold a shootaround in the morning at Oracle Arena. During this time, the Warriors will finalize their game plan and go over their offensive sets and defensive assignments one last time before taking the court for real later on in the evening.
Having played eight preseason games, the Warriors are ready for the season to begin. For some, Wednesday’s season opener represents a clean slate. Every team starts the season at 0-0 – although the Rockets will enter the contest on the heels of tonight’s season-opening game in Portland – and success in the 2009-10 regular season ultimately comes from what transpires between late October and mid-April.
But for other players, a new season can mean a new chapter in life. On Wednesday night, Stephen Curry’s dream of playing in the NBA will come to fruition. The rookie is expected to be in the starting lineup, a far cry from where others predicted the son of a former NBA veteran would end up. Growing up in an area where college basketball rules all, Curry was lightly recruited out of high school and wasn’t thought of as an NBA prospect until he led tiny Davidson College (1,700 enrollment) on a miraculous run in the NCAA Tournament in 2008. Now he is on the verge of doing what nearly every basketball-playing kid has wanted to do since shooting around in the gym, park or driveway for the first time.
Curry discussed his journey to the NBA, and much more, during an hour-long appearance on KNBR’s Razor and Mr. T Show on Monday. Listen to the there-part interview below:
