KNBR 680 AM, the flagship radio station of the Golden State Warriors, will broadcast an NBA Development League game between the Dakota Wizards and the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Saturday, November 26, at 5:00 p.m., the team announced today. The game is part of the NBA Development Leagueís opening weekend, as the league tips off its 2011-12 schedule the previous evening.
Tim Roye, the Warriorsí radio announcer for the last 15 seasons, will provide play-by-play for the contest, which will be played at the Bismarck (ND) Civic Center Arena.
On June 28, 2011, the Golden State Warriors purchased the Dakota Wizards, forming a one-to-one affiliate relationship between the two clubs. The Warriors are currently one of five teams in the NBA to own and operate their own D-League affiliate. Under NBA and D-League rules, the Warriors have the ability to build and determine their own roster for the Wizards, but do not have the rights to the Dakota players unless the team signs a specific player to an NBA contract.
KNBR has served as the Warriors flagship radio station for 35 years. ďThe Sports LeaderĒ first aired Warriors games on KNBR during the 1976-77 season and, with the exception of the 1983-84 campaign, have carried the teamís games ever since.
