Warriors Make Wishes Come True for Bay Area Youth

Team Will Host Winter Wonderland With Comcast SportsNet Bay Area at Team’s Practice Facility

As part of the team’s 15 Plays for the Holidays campaign, the Golden State Warriors will host a Make-A-Wish Holiday Party at their Practice Facility (1011 Broadway, Oakland CA 94607) on Sunday, December 2, the team announced today. The Warriors and Make-A-Wish have teamed up to create a Winter Wonderland, presented by Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, where Bay Area youth with life-threatening medical conditions will have the opportunity to fulfill their wish of meeting and playing with Warriors players Festus Ezeli, Jarrett Jack, Richard Jefferson and Klay Thompson and Assistant Coaches Darren Erman and Kris Weems. The Warriors practice facility will be transformed featuring interactive activities including the Comcast SportsNet SportsCaster Experience booth, bounce houses, gingerbread house station, photo booths, basketball games and other fun activities for the kids.

“I like to be the one to help put smiles on other people's faces regardless of whether I know them or not,” said Warriors guard Jarrett Jack. “This is a joyful time of the year, a festive time, and everybody should enjoy the holidays equally. Since that does not happen due to certain circumstances, what the Warriors and I are partnered up to do is a beautiful thing.”

This is the second year the Warriors and Make-A-Wish have teamed up to bring joy to the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families, and second with Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. The Make-A-Wish Holiday Party, which is intended to bring hope, strength and joy to children who need it most, will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with Warriors players attending from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM.

“Like getting a wish, being able to spend an hour talking and playing with a Warriors team member is a much needed break for these kids from the pain and suffering that life-threatening medical conditions cause,” says Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area’s Executive Director, Patricia Wilson. “We are so grateful to the Warriors for giving them something positive and uplifting to focus on. You can’t ask for a more powerful gift than that.”

Coverage from the Make-A-Wish Holiday Party will air on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s SportsNet Central on Sunday night at 10:30 PM and on Warriors Central on Friday, December 28 at 6:30 PM.
