Stephen Curry Spreads Winter Cheer At Oakland’s Kaiser Permanente Medical Center

On Monday, December 17, Golden State Warriors Guard Stephen Curry visited the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in downtown Oakland, as the fifth-year star looked to brighten the lives of children spending the holidays getting healthy. From the tip-off, Curry was energized to spend one-on-one time with some of his most adoring fans.

“It’s awesome to bring some smiles this holiday season to the kids who might be going through some tough times, to bring some joy to them as best we can and spend some time with them,” Curry said.

Curry started his visit at the Kaiser Permanente Pediatric Infusion Clinic, where he met with staff and patients undergoing treatment at the clinic. Curry then visited the bedsides of children throughout the hospital, providing Warriors holiday gift bags and sharing words of encouragement and good wishes to those who need it most this holiday season. The children were excited to spend time with their famous visitor, thanking them for all they are doing on the court and off.

“I met a lot of basketball fans today who play the game and watch the Warriors, so to be able to come out and meet them and spend some time with them is a cool experience,” Curry said.

Kaiser Permanente, the official sponsor for the 2012-13 Golden State Warriors season, was excited to host their Oakland neighbors because of what it would mean to the children who must spend their holidays in the hospital, hoping that this makes their stay positive in more ways than one.

“The children were able to enjoy a special moment in the midst of their usual day of treatments and visits with doctors,” said Kaiser Permanente Child Life Specialist Carla DeLemos. “Mr. Curry buoyed their spirits, which always helps to improve their well-being.”

Stephen’s visit to Kaiser Permanente was part of the Warriors 15 Plays for the Holidays initiative, where all 15 Warriors players will participate in at least one event this holiday season to brighten the lives of Bay Area children and families.
