Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

On Saturday, August 13th, Warriors Community Ambassador Adonal Foyle joined the Warriors Community Foundation, the Wender Weis Foundation for Children and the Good Tidings Foundation to unveil a refurbished basketball court at Willie L. Brown Jr. Middle School in San Francisco. Foyle took part in the community celebration and also helped lead a basketball clinic for the kids in attendance.

“Growing up on a small island like Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, I would have loved to have a court like this,” said Foyle. “Having the proper equipment and resources makes basketball much more enjoyable for the kids and it will help them grow as players and as people.”

The court unveiling ceremony was emceed by CSN Bay Area Anchor Henry Wofford and featured remarks from Foyle, Board of Education Vice President Shamann Walton, Wender Weis Foundation Founder Amy Wender-Hoch and Good Tidings Foundation Founder and Chairman Larry Harper.

“At the end of the day it is all about hope,” said Walton. “Making sure that we are able to provide a vibrant education. Making sure the students have something they can be proud of when they come to school. It’s important for the school and the community to make sure they have a nice learning environment.”

Following the court unveiling ceremony, Foyle joined students from Urban Ed Academy, Bayview Hunters Point YMCA and Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club of Hunters Point in a youth clinic led by Warriors Basketball Camp coaches and staff.

“My organization has been around for 22 years and just seeing the Warriors Community Foundation come into the community and make such a difference and impact has been so heartwarming,” said Wender-Hoch. “They are helping so many underserved kids, it’s such an honor to be a part of it.”

Through the Makin’ Hoops program, the Warriors and the Good Tidings Foundation have refurbished nearly 60 basketball courts around the Bay Area, helping revitalize local neighborhoods, communities and schools.

“The kids come out here and see a court that’s similar to the court the pros play on with Warriors colors and their logo at center court, and they even received a Warriors jersey and a ball,” said Harper. “It goes a long way for these students, not only in their athletics but also their classrooms.”
