In an ongoing effort to showcase the best #DubNation has to offer, we’re introducing a new platform to promote original artistic content created by Warriors fans for Warriors fans.
Welcome to #DubSounds.
The purpose is simple: to provide a single, central space for Warriors’ fans to share their musical talents to create engaging Warriors-related content, while simultaneously enhancing the artists’ visibility. We know #DubNation will go above-and-beyond per usual, so let’s get it started with a bang. Our first entry is a track titled “Protect Our Ground” by local artist Marshall Payne.
Marshall Payne (@MrMarshallPayne) is a rap artist who was born and raised in the Bay Area. Given that Marshall's two main passions in life are rap music and basketball, names like Chris Mullin, Mac Mall, Tim Hardaway, and E-40 all played a huge role in his development both as a musician and a Warriors fan.
The creation of the new Warriors anthem “Protect Our Ground” (prod. by Lou Koo) was a perfect opportunity for the up-and-coming artist to blend the worlds of music and sports. Payne, who is currently working on his third independently-released album, has been a staple in the Bay Area music scene for nearly a decade. A lifetime Warriors fan and accomplished basketball player (2000 State Champion at Tamalpais High School), Payne is incredibly excited to get Warriors fans worldwide fired up with the new single “Protect Our Ground”.
Big thanks to Marshall for putting this all together. If you’d like to submit your own songs and/or samples, tweet us (@warriors) using the hashtag #DubSounds.
