It has been a whirlwind of a trip so far, but the Warriors' trip to China for the 2013 NBA Global Games will soon come to an end. The team plays the Lakers on Friday at 4:30 a.m. (Pacific) in Shanghai and then immediately head to the airport to begin their journey home, bringing an end to a preseason trip unlike any other.
Since leaving Beijing following Tuesday's 100-95 victory over the Lakers, the Warriors have continued their efforts to ready themselves for the 2013-14 regular season. Of course, with this not being the usual road trip, the team is also doing their part to promote the NBA's growth in China, not a bad idea considering Shanghai is one of the most populous cities in the world.
To that end, the Warriors took the time to show their appreciation for their Shanghai fans at NBA Fan Appreciation Day. More than 13,000 fans watched as the team ran through various drills and activities, and were treated to a Stephen Curry dunk. Several lucky fans had the chance to join the Warriors on the court for three-point and half court shooting contests. The event was a fantastic opportunity for the team to embrace their growing international fan base.
The Warriors may be over 6,000 miles from team headquarters, but that doesn't mean that Training Camp is over. During what little down time they do have, a few members of the team immersed themselves in the city. Warriors TV tagged along as Klay Thompson visited a local market looking for a good deal. You'll be surprised at what he walked away with. (There might be a few other surprises...)
And just a reminder, the Warriors final matchup of the NBA Global Games is set for Friday morning in Shanghai. Set your alarm and watch the Warriors take on the Lakers live on CSN Bay Area or NBA TV at 4:30 a.m. (Pacific).
Not a morning person?
