Wednesday morning my alarm clock was beeping outrageously loud, the sun was shining in my eyes and all I could think about was pulling the covers back over my head. Until the thought crossed through my mind… today is the day we leave for China!
Angel, Anabelle, Sam, Amira, Danielle and myself were all about to depart to Southeast Asia and begin our journey through Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan, China! We all met at SFO around 10am, and walked in with enough luggage for 20 people! Having traveled overseas with the NBA 4 previous times, I definitely knew how to prepare for the 20+ hour trip to get there - lots of books, my Beats headphones and a comfy blanket!
About 15 hours into our trip, we landed in Hong Kong having been awake for almost 24 hours! Although we were half asleep and mildly delirious, we still had a chance to be immersed in a new culture, even in the airport. Hong Kong is known for their diversified and eclectic style and it was so cool seeing fashionable women who can even pull off stripes and polka dots in the same outfit. After our layover we got back on a plane for a short 35-minute flight to Guangzhou. Once in Guangzhou, we were welcomed by our wonderful NBA China reps Ms. Chen and Fanny, who then showed us to our 5 star hotel - The Westin Guangzhou! Without wasting much time, the kind and hospitable staff showed us to our rooms, and we slept better than newborn babies!

Waking up feeling refreshed and ready for our first real day in China, we met for breakfast and enjoyed noodles and dumplings for breakfast - a Chinese staple. Just when we thought we were done traveling for a while, we had to say goodbye to the Westin and begin our 2-hour journey to Shenzhen (let's just say that car ride included some more snoring).
After arriving In Shenzhen, we got to eat lunch, relax, and then soon after Sam and myself headed to the site of the Dongfeng Auto Show where we would be performing the next day! The crews were setting up all the fancy cars, models were walking around prepping their entries and Chinese hip-hop groups were rehearsing on stage. It was clear how big and well known this show is in China! We couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to tell the other girls about it and get them excited for our first performance the next morning! We are so excited for tomorrow to come so that we can perform for the fans and give them a taste of a real NBA dance experience! Stay tuned for more updates Warrior Fans!
