Bob Piccinini is the Chairman, CEO and majority share holder of Save Mart Supermarkets – the largest privately-held grocery chain in the state of California with annual sales of approximately $5 billion. The company is based in his hometown of Modesto, where he started with the family-owned company as a box boy in 1964. Piccinini has built the company empire into 244 stores and more than 20,000 employees since assuming control of the business in 1985.

Piccinini graduated from Manteca High School before attending Modesto Junior College, the University of San Francisco, and the University of the Pacific. His sports and entertainment background includes past ownership stakes in several minor-league baseball teams, including the Fresno Giants, Sacramento Solons, Modesto A’s, and Stockton Ports.

Among Piccinini’s many community contributions is the 16,000-seat Save Mart Center on the campus of Fresno State University, opened in the fall of 2003. In addition to serving as home court for the Bulldogs men’s and women’s sports programs, the venue plays host to several local and national entertainment acts. Save Marts charitable efforts are also responsible for approximately $6,000,000 in annual contributions through nonprofits Save Mart C.A.R.E.S. and Save Mart S.H.A.R.E.S.

Piccinini’s favorite hobbies include golf, gin rummy and collecting automobiles. He is a member of the Del Rio Country Club, Spy Glass Hill Golf Club, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Bob’s family includes children Nicole, Joseph, Alexandria and Dominic.
