Dedes, who serves as an update anchor for WFAN Radio in New York, is a native of Paramus, New Jersey, and a 2001 Fordham graduate. At age 23, he is already enjoying a successful career on the New York airwaves. Dedes is the play-by-play voice of college football and basketball on the YES Network and the radio voice of the Arena Football League's New Jersey Gladiators, working alongside the FAN's NFL expert, Steve Cohen. He also is the back-up play-by-play announcer for the New Jersey Nets on the YES Network and starting in the Spring of 2003, will be the play-by-play announcer for NFL Europe.
In addition, Dedes handles play-by-play assignments for NBA TV and the Atlantic 10 Television Network.
He was the inaugural recipient of the Marty Glickman Award, citing a Fordham announcer who best exemplifies the standards set by the late sports broadcast icon. In fact, when named to the Gladiators assignment earlier this year, Spero became the fifth active Fordham product presently calling the action for a New York area sports team: Mike Breen (Knicks), Bob Papa (Giants), Michael Kay (Yankees) and Chris Carrino (Nets) are the others.
