U.S. Team Stays Perfect in Tuneups
The United States was pushed in the second half for the first time in this year's Olympic tuneup schedule and had the kind of response coach Mike Krzyzewski was looking for. After seeing a 17-point halftime lead cut to nine in the third quarter, the USA Basketball Men’s Senior National Team bounced back for a 120-84 win over Lithuania in an exhibition game in Macao, China on Friday.
The U.S. did not match Thursday's impressive 71-percent shooting from the floor but still shot a very respectable 64 percent to improve to 3-0 in exhibition games. The U.S. will now travel to Shanghai for the USA Basketball International Challenge before opening up the Olympics against China in Beijing on Aug. 10.
Dwyane Wade continued to shine off the bench and led six U.S. players in double figures with 19 points. Dwight Howard added 17 and Michael Redd chipped in with 16 off the bench. LeBron James had a strong all-around game with 15 points, five rebounds and six assists.
Rimantas Kaukenas led Lithuania with 17 points.
The next game for the U.S. will be on Sunday at 3 a.m. ET vs. Russia on ESPN2.
