Zarko Cabarkapa

Team: Golden State Warriors

One of a record 21 international players taken in the 2003 NBA Draft, Zarko Cabarkapa was selected 17 th overall by the Phoenix Suns. A year later, the Suns swapped Cabarkapa to Golden State in exchange for two future second round draft picks. Cabarkapa has played a combined 84 games for the Suns and Warriors, posting career averages of 4.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11.6 minutes of action.

Cabarkapa, who grew up in Belgrade, made his professional debut in the YUBA league as a 17-yearl-old during the 1998-99 season.

 

Vlade Divac

Height: 7-1 | Weight: 260 lbs. | Born: Feb. 3, 1968 | Position: Center
Team: Los Angeles Lakers

After spending six years in a Kings uniform, Vlade Divac returned to the Los Angeles Lakers prior to the start of the 2004-05 season and has been limited to only 37 minutes this year because of back problems.

Divac earned his first selection to the NBA All-Star game in 2001. He also led all NBA centers in assists per game six of the last nine seasons. In 2002, he helped lead Yugoslavia (now Serbia-Montenegro) to the gold medal at the World Championships in Indianapolis.

Father of three, Divac became a United States citizen in the summer of 2000. He also had acting parts in several movies including 1996’s Space Jam. In 2001, Divac founded the “Divac Fund” through the St. John Foundation to help raise money for children affected by the war in Yugoslavia.

 

Predrag Drobnjak

Team: Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks forward from Serbia-Montenegro was drafted by the Wizards in the second round of the 1997 NBA Draft. Drobnjak began his NBA career with the Seattle SuperSonics after playing in the Turkish League from 1998-2001 for Efes Pilsen. Drobnjak got his start in professional basketball playing in the Yugoslavian League from 1996-98.

Team: Los Angeles Clippers

Jaric, in his third season in the NBA after playing six years professionally in Italy and Greece, is posting career-best numbers this season, averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.81 steals.

Prior to being drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers 30 th overall in the 2002 NBA Draft, Jaric played for Kinder Bologna, Italy and led the team to the European “Triple Crown”, which is the Italian League, Euroleague and the Italian Cup championships.

Marko’s father, Srecko Jaric, is considered one of the greatest international basketball players ever.

 

Nenad Krstic

Height: 7-0 | Weight: 240 lbs. | Born: July 25, 1983 | Position: Center/Forward
Team: New Jersey Nets

Krstic has been invaluable as a rookie for the New Jersey Nets, a team in the hunt for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Krstic has started 49 games at center for the Nets, averaging 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds in those contests.

A member of the Serbia and Montenegro National Team, Krstic competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Height: 7-0 | Weight: 250 lbs. | Born: June 20, 1985 | Position: Center
Team: Detroit Pistons

Currently in his second season with the defending champion Detroit Pistons, the fan-favorite Milicic has yet to receive significant playing time in the NBA. Milicic is instead improving his skills and strength in practice while serving as backup to one of the league’s strongest front lines.

The seven-footer is an active member in the Detroit community through the Pistons Read To Achieve program. He also took part in a Pistons sponsored youth basketball camp for 250 youngsters at The Palace of Auburn Hills last April.

 

Aleksandar Pavlovic

Height: 6-7 | Weight: 210 lbs. | Born: Nov. 15, 1983 | Position: Guard/Forward
Team: Cleveland Cavaliers

In his second season of NBA action, Pavlovic is averaging 4.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 13.2 minutes off the Cavaliers’ bench. Pavlovic was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the 19 th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and was a member of the Serbia-Montenegro team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

 

Vladimir Radmanovic

Height: 6-10 | Weight: 227 lbs. | Born: Nov. 19, 1980 | Position: Forward
Team: Seattle SuperSonics

Out for possibly the remainder of the season because of a stress fracture in his right leg, Radmanovic has averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in a reserve capacity this season for the Northwest Division leading Sonics.

Vadmanovic was a member of 2004 Serbia-Montenegro Olympic Team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and was also a member of the Yugoslavian Under-22 National Team that won the gold medal at the 1998 European Championship.

 

Zeljko Rebraca

Height: 7-0 | Weight: 265 lbs. | Born: Apr. 9, 1972 | Position: Center
Team: Los Angeles Clippers

Since being selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 1994 NBA Draft, Rebraca has spent time in Detroit and Atlanta before settling in with the L.A. Clippers this season. In 183 career games, Rebraca has averaged 6.1 points on 52.4 percent shooting to go along with 3.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game.

Married with three children, Rebraca spends his time with his family in Italy and Serbia-Montenegro during the offseason. Rebraca participated in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

 

Predrag “Peja” Stojakovic

Height: 6-10 | Weight: 229 lbs. | Born: June 9, 1977 | Position: Forward/Guard
Team: Sacramento Kings

Peja” is posting 18.4 points on 46.4 percent shooting from the field, including 39.6 percent from three-point range, to go along with 5.0 rebounds 2.0 assists in 483 career games for the Sacramento Kings. Selected by Sacramento with the 14 th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, Stojakovic opted to play professionally in Greece for two seasons before joining the Kings.

The three-time All-Star was the first player to win consecutive three-point titles since Mark Price in 1993-94.

Born in Yugoslavia, Stojakovic became a Greek citizen in 1993 because teams from his native country were not allowed to play in European Cup games.

In 2003, Stojakovic founded the Stojakovic Children’s Foundation with the focus of assisting local youth as well as those living in Balkan countries who suffer from displacement and a poor quality of life. He also took part in various campaigns to help children including “Trick-or-Treat UNICEF”.
