OFFICIAL RULES

All entries must be created and submitted by children who are between the ages of 12 and 17 as of February 11, 2002. Immediate family members of employees of NBA Entertainment (“Sponsor”), NBA Media Ventures, LLC, the NBA, its member teams, and their respective affiliated and related entities are not eligible. All entries must be received by Sponsor between February 11, 2002 and March 25, 2002. Contest open only to residents of the 48 continental United States. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.

Your audition tape should show us why you are qualified to become an NBA Inside Stuff correspondent. It should demonstrate your skills and enthusiasm toward becoming an on-air talent for NBA Inside Stuff. Your audition should be no longer than 30 seconds.

Judging of Submissions:

Submissions will be judged as follows: An in-house panel of 10 NBA Inside Stuff representatives will review the audition tapes submitted, during the contest submission period (February 11, 2002 through March 25, 2002), based upon the following criteria: poise, ability to communicate, enthusiasm and production proficiency and will narrow down the submissions to 4 Finalists for that period. (During the 6 week period you can view various video entries, randomly selected by of the NBA Inside Stuff panel, on NBA.com.)
Decisions of the NBA Inside Stuff panel as to the selection of the 4 Finalists are final. After six weeks, the tapes of the 4 Finalists will appear on NBA.com, where they will be voted by NBA.com users between March 30, 2002 and April 5, 2002.

The Finalist with the highest number of votes on NBA.com, who meets all the eligibility requirements, will be the contest winner. The potential winner will be notified by telephone and/or mail. The potential winner and his/her parent or guardian will be required to execute & return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release & (where legal) Publicity Release within 5 days of issuance of notification. Non-compliance with any of the foregoing may result in disqualification & awarding of prize to an alternate winner at Sponsor’s sole discretion. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 13, 2002 (or a later date, if necessary to qualify a winner) on NBA.com and NBA Inside Stuff. Prize: The winner will be in a feature with an NBA or WNBA player (to be selected at Sponsor’s sole discretion), which will air on a future episode of NBA Inside Stuff. Location of the shoot of the feature to be determined at Sponsor’s sole discretion. If Sponsor in its sole discretion determines that it is necessary, Sponsor will provide winner and one of his/her parents or guardians with round-trip coach airfare from major airport nearest winner’s residence to the location of the shoot, one night accommodations (double occupancy), ground transportation between airport nearest location of the shoot and the location of the shoot, and meals. Dates and all travel and hotel arrangements (if applicable) to be determined and made exclusively by Sponsor. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption or substitution of prize except by Sponsor & then for a prize of equal or greater value. Should travel, lodging, ground transportation or meals be provided, federal, state, & local taxes, including but not limited to any applicable income or withholding taxes, or like fees & all other costs & expenses not specified herein as included in prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.

In addition to an appearance as an NBA Inside Stuff correspondent, the contest winner will also have the opportunity to work with the editors of NBA Inside Stuff magazine, to write an article for this magazine about his/her experience as an on-air correspondent. The article, which will be subject to the editorial standards of NBA Inside Stuff magazine will be published, in an upcoming issue, in the sole discretion of this magazine.

Submission Requirements:

All entries must be mailed to: “Show Us Your STUFF!”, P.O. Box 1590, Secaucus, NJ 07094. One tape submission per entrant. All submissions must be created in 2002. Your entry must contain your complete mailing address and telephone number. All entries (including tapes) will become property of NBA Entertainment and will not be returned.

You must label your tape with your name and the length of the audition (in seconds) and any sponsoring organization or school. Your submission must not contain any music. The tape must be rewound to the beginning. If no picture appears after one minute of playing time or your submission does not satisfy these submission requirements, the entry will be disqualified.

You can shoot your audition on any format you want (VHS, Super VHS, 8 mm, ¾ inch, or Beta). However, the audition tape that you send us has to be on VHS, Beta, 8mm, or ¾ inch format only. If in VHS format, it should be SP Speed only. No other format will be acceptable, including any international format (PAL).

Adult-supervised organizations or schools may collaborate in the tape-making process, but children between the ages of 12 and 17 must be the PRIMARY creators in all areas including the concept, script, camerawork, and editing. The tape you send should be a "production master," which means it should be the original copy of the audition.

Submissions deemed by Sponsor to contain inappropriate material, such as copyright violations, violence, profanity, or professionally produced excerpts will be disqualified.

Two Submission Release Forms must be signed and submitted with each entry, and two Talent Release Forms must be obtained for each person who appears on camera or whose voice is heard in the audition. All persons under the age of 18 must have written permission by a parent or legal guardian on all Submission Release Forms and Talent Release Forms.

If you use any material not produced by you or your video crew, you must submit two copies of formal written permission(s) from the producers of said material.

Submissions without the required release forms and that do not otherwise meet the submission requirements will not be considered.

General Rules

Sponsor is not responsible for lost, incomplete, illegible, late, misdirected, postage-due or mutilated entries or mail; failures or malfunctions of phones, phonelines or telephone systems; lost entries or transmissions; interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections; miscommunications, failed computer hardware or software or technical failures; garbled, misrouted or scrambled transmissions; inaudible or incomplete entries or communications; printing errors appearing within these Official Rules, in any contest-related advertisements or other materials; or other errors of any kind whether mechanical, human, electronic or otherwise. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void any & all entries of an entrant whom Sponsor believes has attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest.

Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to: 1.) disqualify any person who tampers with the online voting process, the operation of NBA.com, or any other component of this contest, or who is otherwise in violation of the Official Rules & 2.) modify or cancel this contest should virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the contest. By participating, entrants (and their parents or guardians) agree to be bound by these Official Rules & agree that Sponsor, NBA Media Ventures, LLC, the NBA, its member teams, & each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, governors, owners, distributors, retailers & advertising/promotion agencies: 1.) may use (unless prohibited by law) their name, city, state, province and/or territory of residence, photograph and/or likeness for advertising and/or trade purposes and/or any other purpose in any media or format now or hereafter known without further compensation, permission or notification & 2.) shall have no liability & will be held harmless for any liability, loss, injury or damage to entrant or any other person or entity due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of this contest or & any prize.
