Top Plays Ladder

The NBA.com Top Plays Ladder is a free-flowing, continuously updated chart that ranks the best plays of 2012-13. When a play happens that brings you to your feet, check here to see how it ranks. And if it ain't here, sound the alarm.

The Final Four

May 19 -- Four weeks of NBA Playoff basketball has yielded the debris of 12 fallen teams, leaving the last four to fight on.

Dreams of a LeBron-'Melo conference finals matchup were slashed by the Pacers, whose egalitarian brand of offensive output counters the star-powered engine of their biggest obstacle in Miami.

Four weeks ago, the Thunder were a lock to get back to the Western Conference Finals. Then they watched their primary offensive catalyst Russell Westbrook score 16 points in the second half against the Rockets on one knee. A day later, his season ended with the announcement of a torn right meniscus, greatly altering the playoff landscape.

That led to the emergence of Reggie Jackson, who demonstrated a knack for playmaking, including one of the niftiest fast break finishes you'll ever see. Later in the same series, Tayshaun Prince brought down a left-handed hammer over three hands to give southpaws everywhere a vicarious thrill -- en route to sealing the Thunder's demise.

The "Next Man Up" mantra applies in the Top Plays Realm as well, with new stars scratching for their shine in the postseason light. Iman Shumpert's monstrous putback yam, Nate Robinson's rejection of LeBron James, Stephen Curry's one-legged 3 off the dribble and Kawhi Leonard's smooth poster dunk over Harrison Barnes stand out.

Straight Baptized: March 10, 2013

Was Brandon Knight sleep during the pregame film session? He must not have heard about the Clippers' big men. DeAndre Jordan gave him a lesson he'll never, ever, forget.

2
Loooob Citaaay: March 6, 2013

At the end of the day, behind the scoreboards and winning mantras, it's still basketball. And when it's done like this, it reminds us of why we pay so much attention to it. Jamal Crawford and Blake Griffin complete a highlight for the ages.

Lowering The Boom: Feb. 12, 2013

You have facials that are powerful (see: Barnes) and you have facials that are powerful and graceful. In Toronto, DeRozan showed some Compton love to Mozgov, whose victim status continues to be safe.

4
Collison's Save: Dec. 27, 2012

Looking back on this play months after it happened, and it still ranks as one of the weirdest buzzer-beaters I've ever seen. While J.R. Smith and James Johnson may have had more impacting game-enders, Darren Collison's non-set shot to tie the game in OKC stands above.

5
Griffin, The Destroyer: Dec. 18, 2013

A stuff, a stalk and gritty staredown of a fallen Kyle Singler, then the appearance out of nowhere to finish an alley-oop that started as a chest pass. The Griffinator has one mission, people: seek and destroy. And this wasn't his most exciting play of the night.

Feeling Green: Feb. 7, 2013

Since Rajon Rondo went down, Jeff Green has picked up his stats, but the highlights have been consistent. Against the Lakers, his team joined him on the fun, setting TD Garden into a frenzy.

Still Got It: Feb. 5, 2013

What more can one say about Kobe Bean? We create walls of "he's too old" and "he's not the same Mamba" for him to provide powerful rebuttals. The definitive "youth" moment of the season for No. 24.

KD Gets Filthy: March 1, 2013

There's no way somebody this tall is supposed to finish off what Kevin Durant pulled against the Denver Nuggets. But this is why he's KD and I'm not.

The Big Payback: March 18, 2013

Those clamps LeBron had on during the 2011 NBA Finals? Distant memory. But if you think 'Bron forgot about Jason Terry's incessant chatter that series, here's proof to the contrary.

Meeting At Rim : Nov. 23, 2012

Safe to say Blake Griffin is used to the high-wire acts. Generally it's on the offensive side. Don't tell that to Deron Williams.
