Timberwolves & Lynx Partner with AEG Merchandise for All Team Retail

New Era, New Gear
by Timberwolves PR

Minneapolis-St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx have announced a new partnership with AEG Merchandise to manage all team retail operations. The announcement follows the successful launch of the Timberwolves online team pop-up store, which gave fans the first chance to purchase gear bearing the new team logo.

“As demand for merchandise increases and the popularity of our franchises continues to grow, we’re excited to partner with AEG Merchandise to bring our retail efforts to the next level,” said Timberwolves & Lynx CEO Ethan Casson. “This partnership will allow us to increase our mix of products and manufacturers, while also expanding our retail footprint, giving our fans more options to choose from and ways to purchase.”

Following the completion of Target Center’s renovation, the team store in the skyway will be doubled in square footage and a second store will be added in the lower level concourse. Point-of-sale will also be updated throughout all stores.

AEG Merchandise will also operate the new online store for the Timberwolves beginning with the 2017-18 season, the Lynx for the 2018 season and eventually the new D-League franchise. As each team store comes online, they will be integrated to create a one shopping cart experience for all three teams. Along with online and in-store shopping, AEG Merchandise will handle any off-site team retail, including out of market preseason games, Minnesota State Fair and other pop-up opportunities.

“We are excited to bring the Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx fans through a dynamic product journey,” said Vice President of AEG Merchandise Sean Ryan. “With the Timberwolves, they have gathered a tremendous nucleus of talent and with the new rebrand, it has created a perfect storm which AEG is honored to be a part of.”

The partnership gives the organization the opportunity to work with a larger number of NBA licensees not previously available in the team store. Beginning with the 2017-18 NBA season, merchandise from brands including Nike, New Era, Under Armour, 47 and Majestic will be available. The store will also increase selection and assortment of product lines, doubling the number of SKUs and increasing the women’s product lines.

Timberwolves merchandise is available now at  www.timberwolvesteamstore.com,  with more merchandise coming online leading into next season. Prior to the 2018 season, Lynx merchandise will be available at  www.lynxteamstore.com.  The D-League team URL will be available at a future date.

This announcement is the latest in a series of announcements tied to the new era of Timberwolves basketball. With new leadership on the court and in the boardroom, the franchise is poised for more significant changes in the coming months. Target Center’s renovation project, complete with new premium spaces, seating and concourse improvements, is expected to hit the finish line in time for the beginning of the 2017-18 season. The team’s limited partnership group now includes the first Chinese minority owner in major professional sports, John Jiang, in addition to New York real estate mogul Meyer Orbach. The franchise will also enter its first season with its new NBA G-League team in Des Moines.
