Three Questions With Shabazz Muhammad

Editor's Note: Our Kyle Ratke was able to chat with Shabazz Muhammad for a bit at this year's Media Day. Muhammad discussed leadership, his summer and how things have changed since his rookie season.

KR: When you came in as a rookie, there were some question marks. But I mean, you fast-forward two years later and the team is marketing around you as a part of the future of the team. What has changed since you got drafted?

SM: I just think attitude. I’m always a hard worker. I wanted to work. I’ve always had a positive attitude. I think a lot of stuff from college tried to carry over and really try to hurt my brand, but I turned it around and everything’s good now.

KR: Did you meet up with Crazy Frank again this summer?

SM: I did. I was there for 12 weeks, so it was pretty intense. I lost about 25 to 30 pounds. Right now I’m about 223. I was about 245 the last time I was weighed year.

KR: Year three for you now. You’re not a vet quite yet, but when you were healthy last season, you played very well. What are your goals going into this season?

SM: We gotta win. I think we’re young team. I think I’m one of the young guys that’s a leader on the team. We have to win and it’s something we’ve got to do on the defensive end. Coach Mitchell’s been talking about that’s what we need to work on, especially for myself. I’m ready for camp and ready to see what’s in store.
