Shootaround Access - March 25 | Passing The Rookie Wall

In the middle of the season, there was a lot of talk on players like Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine hitting the rookie wall.

By this point, Wiggins and LaVine have busted through that wall, mostly out of necessity. The Wolves had just seven healthy players on Monday night against Utah and there’s a chance the same could happen tonight.

“You’ve just got to fight it out knowing you have seven people you’re going to war with,” LaVine said. “You know, that’s your crew. You got to make sure you protect them… We only have seven.”

With 12 games left, it’ll be important for Wiggins and LaVine to continue to play hard and to not get into foul trouble.

Last week, it looked like Wiggins hit a major wall and didn’t play much energy. After Monday’s game, he said he feels back to normal.

“I feel better than I did before,” Wiggins said. “I feel more energized. I’ve been doing a lot of treatment.”

LaVine’s Three-Point Shooting

LaVine has struggled from three for much of the season, which he admits has been tough because he was considered a three-point shooter in college. It looks like the former Bruin has his touch back. In the month of March, LaVine is shooting 51.4 percent from the three-point line. To put that into perspective, he shot just 28.6 percent in February.

“I’ve been really mad throughout the season that I haven’t been making my shots,” LaVine said. “… I guess a little more added focus.”
