Wolves Close to Buyout Agreement with Howard

According to team sources, the Wolves are finalizing a buyout agreement with forward Juwan Howard. Per team policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Howard was not present at the team's 5:00 p.m. intersquad scrimmage at Target Center.

Upon the final announcement of Howard's buyout, the Wolves' roster would sit at 16 players, and must be reduced to 15 players by the 5:00 p.m. central deadline on Monday.

"It looks like we've come to an agreement with Juwan in buying him out," said Wolves head coach Randy Wittman. "These are our 15. We're as settled as we've been.

"A lot of that was between ownership and where (Howard) thought he was at in his career. Going through four weeks of guys together, seeing what guys can do and playing different positions, I think it made sense for both parties."

Wittman also confirmed that Wayne Simien will not be wearing a Timberwolves jersey.

"That would put us at 16," he said.
