Wolves @ Jazz: By the Numbers

By: Contributing Writer Jude B. Harder

The Timberwolves handled the Utah Jazz twice at Target Center this season, including a 110-103 victory on Sunday.

However, on Wednesday, the Wolves won't be playing in Minneapolis, but heading to EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, where the Jazz are nearly unbeatable this season: Utah is a league-best 33-4 at home, averaging 109 points on over 51-percent shooting.

In the Wolves' first trip to Salt Lake City this season they were rudely awakened with a 105-76 drubbing from the Jazz on March 5. However, since the loss the Wolves have played their best stretch of basketball this season, going 7-6 to close out the month of March.

The Wolves should expect a hefty challenge from Utah as the Jazz will be looking to position themselves for the playoffs while exacting revenge on the Wolves for those two road losses.

To get you ready for the contest, we analyzed some numbers:

111
Average points allowed by the Jazz in their 22 road losses this season.

110.5
Average points scored by the Wolves in the two victories over Utah at Target Center this season.

76
Points scored by the Wolves in their last game at Utah, a season-low offensive output.

49.93
Team field goal shooting percentage for the Jazz, which is just a tad behind Phoenix (49.98) for best in the league.

28.8
Free throws attempted a game by the Jazz, second only to the Denver Nuggets, who average 30.4 a game.

27
League ranking for Utah in three point attempts, which signifies the Jazz' desire to get the ball inside.

19
Home winning streak that the Jazz enjoyed earlier this season. They have gone 23-1 at home since a Dec. 29 loss to the Boston Celtics.

17.8
Ryan Gomes's points per game the last 12 games of March. He didn't have a game where he scored less than 14 during that stretch.

9
Games remaining for the Wolves this season, which includes just three home games.

8
Number of Wolves players who scored more than eight points in their victory over the Jazz on Sunday night.

7
Victories for the Wolves in the month of March, their best month of basketball since January of 2007.

5
League ranking of the Jazz in points scored a night (107), which is 5.5 points higher than last season's average.

4
Consecutive home wins for the Wolves before Tuesday night's 94-90 loss to the Detroit Pistons.

2.9
Al Jefferson's blocks per game average over the last eight games, including a season-high five against the Houston Rockets on March 26.
