Wolves Host Reading Timeout
As part of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ FastBreak Foundation’s Read to Achieve month presented by American Family Insurance, the Wolves hosted a Reading Timeout at Jefferson Elementary in Minneapolis.
Rashad McCants, Marco Jaric, broadcaster Tom Hanneman, Crunch as well as members of the Timberwolves dance team were on hand to lead the festivities. McCants and Jaric read the assembled students The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs.
"It was really fun to see the reaction on the kids' faces when Marko and Rashad read 'The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs', said Wolves community relations manager Sarah Barthol. "Having Tom Hanneman, Crunch and the dancers along for the occasion always means a lot both to our organization, and especially, to the kids."
Crunch, meanwhile, utilized his best acting skills to act out the wolf’s part on stage. Students listened intensively, as immediately following the reading, a quiz, along with prizes, were a big hit.
The dancers also fielded questions from the youngsters as well as McCants and Jaric in regards to life in and out of the NBA.
The day concluded with Crunch handing out a bagful of goodies—tickets to a future Timberwolves game, T-shirts and backpacks. In addition, students received books, bookmarks, stickers and posters as the exited.
"The Reading Timeouts have been a successful initiative throughout the season," concluded Barthol. "It's always so great to see our players out in the community, sharing their love of reading and having fun with the students at the same time, as exhibited Wednesday at Jefferson Elementary."
