Wolves Close Season with Bucks

We crunched some numbers for the final time in previewing a 2007-08 Wolves’ opponent, as Minnesota welcomes the Milwaukee Bucks to Target Center Wednesday in the season finale.

For example: Rashad McCants broke the franchise record for three pointers (140) Tuesday night in Detroit, Al Jefferson scored 30 points for the 10th time this season and Milwaukee rookie Ramon Sessions set a Bucks’ franchise record for assists with 24 on Monday against Chicago.

2
League-wide rank of Rashad McCants in bench points, trailing only the Spurs’ Manu Ginobili, the likely sixth man of the year.

4
Number of 20+ point scorers for the Bucks in their 151-135 loss Monday to the Bulls in Milwaukee: Ramon Sessions (20); Michael Redd (22); Charlie Villanueva (22); and Andrew Bogut(25). Minnesota had four 20+ point scorers on Feb. 22 against Utah.

9
Assists for Randy Foye on Tuesday night in Minnesota’s final road game, a 115-103 loss at Detroit. Foye is averaging 5.8 assists over his last six games, nearly the same number averaged by Sebastian Telfair in his 60 games (5.9) before hurting his ankle.

15.7
Minnesota’s winning percentage on the tail end of back-to-back games (3-16). However, the Wolves did win their last such contest, at Memphis on April 12.

18.3
Points averaged by Randy Foye over his last six games, including 25 points at Orlando on April 11.

23
Points averaged by Bucks All-Star Michael Redd, who adds 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game to his squad.

24
Assists for Milwaukee’s second-round draft pick Ramon Sessions on Monday vs. Chicago, a franchise record. That’s not a typo. He tossed 24 dimes. Sessions was called up from the Bucks’ D-League affiliate (Tulsa) on Feb. 1, but broke his hand in practice the first day he was called up. After recovering, he’s averaged 11.2 points, 13 assists and 5.3 rebounds in six starts. He also scored 20 points in his huge assist game, the only 20-point/20-assist game in team history.

30
Points scored by Al Jefferson against the Pistons on Tuesday. It was the 10th time Jefferson put up at least 30 in the 2007-08 season. He’s also shooting 55.3 percent in April.

39
Number of games by which Milwaukee (26-55) trails Eastern Conference leading Boston (65-16). The Bucks are 11 games back of 8th place Atlanta, the final playoff team out East.

43
First quarter points for Minnesota against Memphis on Saturday, a franchise record for the Wolves.

58.7
Free-throw percentage for Milwaukee center and former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut, who leads the Bucks with 9.7 boards and 1.75 blocks a game.

62
Rebounds snatched by the Wolves on Saturday, April 12 against Memphis, just one below the franchise record attained on April 1, 2005 at Phoenix. The Wolves grabbed 24 offensive boards that night, which is the most in 10 years.

140
Three-point field goals made this season by Rashad McCants, a new franchise record for the Timberwolves. The record had been held by Isiah “JR” Rider from his 1994-95 season, when he dropped 139 bombs. McCants tied the mark at the 3:13 mark of the third quarter in Detroit Tuesday night before snapping it at the 7:12 mark of the fourth. Rider needed 396 attempts (35.1 percent) to get there, while McCants required just 339 (41.3 percent). Furthermore, McCants has made 33 percent of Minnesota’s threes this season.
