Wolves-Bulls Preview

Tonight the Minnesota Timberwolves head to Chicago for a preseason match up with the Bulls.

Minnesota is playing its fourth consecutive preseason game on the road and is coming off its first loss, 118-95 at Denver on Friday night.

One bright spot in Friday's loss was the play of second-year forward Corey Brewer according to Wolves Coach Randy Wittman.

"He played with great energy and when he does that he ends up doing good things. Whether its making shots, creating things on the break or creating havoc on the defensive end. So I thought his 16 minutes were really good in that game."

Brewer led the Wolves with 18 points including going 4-5 from beyond the arc despite sitting out the first half while the Coaching staff took look an extended look at Rodney Carney. Blake Ahearn posted 17 points and Randy Foye poured in 16 in the loss.

One area of concern Friday for Coach Wittman was the play of the Wolves transition defense, "We just lost all focus defensively, so this Chicago game I wanna see us get back to where we were in the first two games. I think fatigue made cowards of us all in that Denver game."

With that in mind Minnesota will try to slow down the Bulls who feature the #1 overall draft pick Derrick Rose and a handful of versatile guards according to Wolves guard Blake Ahearn.

"Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, Larry Hughes, they've got good guards, and they're all different, they all have different assets. But a guy like Derrick Rose is tough, he was the number one draft pick for a reason, so we're gonna do what we can to slow him down."

The Bulls are 0-2 in the preseason and are coming off a 95-92 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday night in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Tyrus Thomas led Chicago with 15 points; Derrick Rose posted 13 points and 6 assists. Through the preseason Rose is averaging over 11 points and 5 assists a game. Chicago is 0-2 under first-year head Coach Vinny Del Negro.

Tonight's game tips off at 7:30 and can be heard on 1130 KFAN and the Wolves Radio Network.
