Timberwolves 25 Season Ticket Member Spotlight: Lance and Sandy SilhaEditor’s Note: Throughout the 2013-14 season, the Timberwolves will highlight and recognize members of our fan base who have been with the team since the beginning. As part of our Timberwolves 25 Season Ticket Member spotlight, the Wolves Radio Network and Timberwolves.com will feature Q&As with fans who have held season tickets since Day 1 back in 1989. You can hear these interviews on 830 WCCO-AM and the Timberwolves Radio Network during the Northland Ford Dealer Tip-off Show on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
What made you buy season tickets 25 seasons ago?
Lance: “Well, I think the first thing that came about was when we found out Minnesota was going to get a team. And Sandy’s aunt was the one who put us on to this and we bought season tickets and of course the first game was the Chicago Bulls against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which is awesome.”
Sandy: “In the Metrodome. That was kind of cool.”
How does the Target Center seating compare to the Dome?
Lance: “Our first tickets were second level where we could barely see the floor, although we could see the 23 on Jordan’s jersey and now we are 10 rows off the floor so we can see everybody’s jersey.”
Is being at the game something that you would miss if you just had to watch the game on TV?
Sandy: “I don’t know, I just love being able to watch the guys in the end zone, the one’s the do all the stuff. They have all the cheers, they have the costumes and that’s fun. And just seeing the players get out there and work so hard. I just really appreciate all they do.”
What is one of your favorite memories from being a season ticket member?
Lance: “One of our favorite memories is seeing the T’Wolves beat the Los Angeles Lakers in a playoff game.”
What do you see when you see the core of Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic?/
Sandy: “It kind of reminds me of when Sprewell, Cassel and Garnett played. Now we have Pek and Rubio and Love. It’s just fun to watch Love and Rubio and Pek play and now we got Martin.”
Do you think this team can make a playoff run like those guys did?
Sandy: “That’s why we keep coming. You bet.”
Lance: “This is definitely a playoff team here. And if I had to say anything, you know they called Cassel and Sprewell and Garnett “The Big Three,” this is a better team than we had back then.”
What would you say if someone was on the fence on buying season tickets?
Lance: “I would say if you had to pay double, go head and do it.”
Sandy: “That says it.”
