Spotlight On ... Eileen
We spotlighted first-year Wolves dancer Eileen and found out about her four siblings, her obsession with ChapStick and her go-to dance move in the club.
MT: Let's start with the basics, Eileen. Tell us where you're from, where you did your schooling and what you do now?
Eileen: I'm from Eagan, went to Eagan High School and graduated in 2002. I went on to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, and graduated in 2006 with a degree in marketing management. I now work for Target.
MT: Got it. You studied marketing management at St. Thomas. What was the most boring class you took?
Eileen: Finance. That came out blunt. Finance accounting was just really boring.
MT: Ever fall asleep?
Eileen: I'm sure I did. Nothing rings a bell, but if I didn't get my coffee fix...
MT: Being a Tommy, are you instructed to hate Olies and Johnnies and other MIAC schools? Any venom towards those places?
Eileen: Johnnies mostly. The football games in particular were huge. The Johnnies would come to our school, we'd go to their school, and it was a huge rivalry. And we had a little one between our dance teams.
MT: Which you won, as with former Wolves dancer Alicia as coach, you were National Champs...
Eileen: We had two separate coaches and both danced for the Timberwolves, so we had a lot of opportunity to dance at Wolves games too ...
MT: Rumor has it you are the oldest of five children in your family. Can you name all of your brothers and sisters ... in a row?
Eileen: The youngest is Christopher, then Olivia, Bobby, David and me.
MT: Backwards now.
Eileen: Me, David, Bobby, Olivia, Christopher.
MT: Who is your favorite sibling?
Eileen: I love my little sister Olivia, although I don't have any favorites. My little sister and brother, I love them. Often times when I bring them in public people think I'm their mom. There's a big age difference.
MT: Snoop Dog recently said that his daughter has to be 77 before she can have a boyfriend. How about your youngest siblings?Eileen: They need to be 19 at least. I'm very protective of them, for sure.
MT: Last week, Brittney told us that even though she's the smallest Wolves Dancer, she could definitely beat you up. Response?
Eileen: No she didn't. She did not say that.
MT: Actually she didn't, you're right.
Eileen: She probably could though. That girl has muscle.
MT: Wait, where does the Minnesota accent come from?
Eileen: I have an accent?
MT: Yup. OK, when Paris Hilton was on David Letterman earlier this year, she told him she no longer wanted to talk about her stint in jail. He replied, "This is where you and I are different. Because that is all I want to talk about." Thoughts?
Eileen: I think Paris is ridiculous, and anytime she talks makes things more exciting. I do want to hear the details, even though it's so silly to begin with. Letterman was being fair.
MT: Do you like when British people use the adjective "major" to describe everything (like Victoria Beckham)? What's your favorite adjective to describe something cool or important?
Eileen: I love British accents, but I haven't heard "major." My favorite adjective is "sassy."
MT: In your spare time, you like to shop, watch Lifetime movies, eat ketchup and work out. Oh, and put ChapStick on every five minutes. Anything else?
Eileen: I'd say that's me in a nutshell. With the shopping ... I could shop for anything and it'll make me feel better. The last thing I bought was a new coat that I so didn't need from Macys.
MT: Best Lifetime movie ever?
Eileen: Oh I don't know, last night? I don't remember the name of it, but any Lifetime movie that's on. They're all the same: someone murders someone or pukes on someone. They're all so good though.
MT: Last thing you put ketchup on?
Eileen: I'm really weird with ketchup. I ate it with a turkey wrap last night after dance practice. Just plain turkey, and ketchup, and you roll it up.
MT: Gross.
Eileen: No, it's good!
MT: Uh huh. And the ChapStick?
Eileen: I've gotten the same kind of ChapStick since I was like five years old. It's Cover Girl Lip Gloss, and I go through a tube a week ... It's about four dollars.
MT: So that's four times 52 weeks times 18 years, or about $3,700 on ChapStick.
Eileen: Yep.
MT: What is your go-to dance move at the club?Eileen: A body bend with a little booty shaking. The hands go up in the air at some point, you get a sassy look on your face, you start nodding at all your friends as if you all know, and start doing the same move at the same time.
MT: Would you like to clarify anything or respond to allegations in the past column "Our Top 5s?" I heard you weren't too happy about your love for ice cream, David Beckham and Wally was exposed.
Eileen: No, my fetish for Wally Szczerbiak can be well-known.
MT: What's the weirdest thing a fan has said to you this year?
Eileen: This lady came up to me and acted as if she were going to put her arm around me and say, "Oh great job this season, I love watching you!" but she looked at me straight in the eye, put her lips practically to my ear, and said, "Honey you have lipstick on you, do you know that?" I was like, "Yeah I know I have lipstick on ... That took me aback."
MT: You've previously said "Just Married" is your favorite movie. Would you like to replace that with a good movie?
Eileen: Oh! I love "Just Married." That's No. 1 on my charts, no doubt.
