Timberwolves Set 2008-09 Opening Night Roster

The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team's 15-player 2008-09 Opening Night roster. To reduce their roster to the 15-man limit, the Timberwolves last week requested waivers on guard Blake Ahearn, forward Chris Richard and center David Harrison.

The 2008-09 roster features just one rookie, Kevin Love, who was selected with the fifth overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies and acquired by the Timberwolves on draft night along with Mike Miller. Including Love and Miller, the 2008-09 Wolves roster features seven new faces. Veterans Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins also came over in the deal with Memphis, while Calvin Booth and Rodney Carney were acquired from Philadelphia. Free agent Kevin Ollie, who also played for the Sixers last season, completes the 15-player roster.

Minnesota will open the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 29 against the Sacramento Kings at Target Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CDT. The game will be telecast on FSN North with Tom Hanneman and Jim Petersen calling the action and can be heard on KFAN AM 1130 with Alan Horton and Kevin Lynch.

The first 5,000 fans in attendance on Opening Night will receive a free Timberwolves hat courtesy of U.S. Bank. In addition, the Timberwolves will host a free breakfast on Wednesday for fans outside of Target Center. From 6-9 a.m., fans are invited to join Timberwolves Dancers, Crunch and KFAN's Power Trip morning show on the First Avenue side of the building for free coffee, juice and donuts as the team tips off its 20th season.

Tickets for all Timberwolves homes games can be purchased in person at the Target Center Box Office and at all Ticketmaster Ticket outlets.
