Timberwolves to Host Gatorade Shootout - Local and National Prep Powers to play at Target Center
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL-The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the eighth annual Gatorade Timberwolves Shootout presented by Freschetta, will be held at Target Center on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Shootout will feature five of the state's top boys basketball programs matching up with prep forces from across the nation.
The first game of the day, scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., will feature Duluth East, ranked No. 10 in Class 4A, led by junior Corey Johnson, versus Randolph, Wis. Randolph has won three-straight Wisconsin 4A state titles.
The second game of the day, tipping off at 1:00 p.m., will feature Richfield, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, versus perennial Iowa powerhouse Sioux City East.
The third game, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., will pit St. Thomas Academy and South Dakota force Sioux Falls Roosevelt. St. Thomas Academy is led by junior Bryce Webster, while Roosevelt features University of Wisconsin recruit Joe Krabenhoft.
The fourth game, tipping off at 5:00 p.m., will pit top-ranked and defending state Class 2A champions Braham, and national power Compton Centennial from Los Angeles. Braham features Isaiah Dahlman, while Compton has national recruits Jervaughn Johnson and Tyre Thompson on its roster.
The final game of day begins at 7:00 p.m. and features sixth-ranked Class 4A Tartan taking on Madison Memorial (Wis.) and Marquette University recruit Wes Matthews Jr.
Tickets for all five contests are available for $10 at the Target Center box office on the day of the Shootout.
