The Puerto Rico National Team remained undefeated in the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship on Thursday as it put together a 94-80 victory over Argentina in the team’s first second round game.

Puerto Rico wrapped up a perfect 4-0 preliminary round on Tuesday and continued their hot stretch of play against an Argentina squad led by NBA power forward Luis Scola. Puerto Rico will resume play on Friday at 7 p.m. CT against the Dominican Republic (3-2).

J.J. Barea wrapped up Thursday’s game with 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting. He finished with a pair of 3-pointers while adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Barea is averaging 12.4 points per game during his five contests in the FIBA Americas Championship.

His teammate, Renaldo Balkman, led the way against Argentina with 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting. Carlos Arroyo added 19 points, Alexander Galindo had 12 and John Holland, who played for the Wolves’ Summer League roster in July, had 10.

For Argentina, Scola wrapped up with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Selem Sarfar had 15 points, Marcos Mata had 11 and Facundo Campazzo had 10.
