FastBreak Foundation To Spread Holiday Cheer Through Season Of Giving Month

This holiday season, the Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation will celebrate the Season of Giving, presented by SPIRE Federal Credit Union, with the focus towards organizations and events that help make the holidays a happier time for those in need. The FastBreak Foundation, which is supported year-round by the Roger and Nancy McCabe Foundation, will also use this special time of year to recognize those individuals in the community who embody the spirit of the season through their work to assist others.

"This is a wonderful time of the year for our entire organization to focus on making sure those in need have an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season," Timberwolves President Chris Wright said. "We are pleased to be working with an organization as thoughtful and community-focused as SPIRE Federal Credit Union to accomplish this goal."

Highlights of the FastBreak Foundation's Season of Giving month include the following:

Holiday Shopping for Kids - Monday, Dec. 10 (3:30-6:00 p.m.)

The eighth annual Holiday Shopping for Kids will kick off at SEVEN Restaurant in Minneapolis with the FastBreak Foundation teaming up with Minnesota Adoption Resource Network (MARN) to surprise 10 kids with a holiday shopping spree at Target. Following an afternoon snack party where the children will get a Timberwolves gear bag and jersey, they receive a surprise announcement from Timberwolves President Chris Wright about the shopping spree. The kids will then proceed to the downtown Target store and be paired with a Timberwolves player to spend $1,000 on clothing, school supplies and toys. In addition, SPIRE will be purchasing tickets to a Wolves game for each child and their family. This is the eighth year of Target hosting this annual event.

Kevin Love Coat Drive: Nov. 14-Dec. 12

The fifth annual Kevin Love Coat Drive began on November 14th and runs through Dec. 12. Anyone who wishes to participate can donate new or gently used coats for the cause. Coats can be dropped off at the Target Center or at select Comcast locations. Everyone who donates a coat will receive two tickets an upcoming Timberwolves game. The coats will go to The Salvation Army to help the less fortunate stay warm during this winter season. Kevin Love will pose for photos with fans on Dec. 9 at the Best Buy in Inver Grove Heights to promote the drive. Love will deliver the coats to The Salvation Army on Dec. 19.

Holiday Toy Drive - Nov. 26 to Dec. 17; Amplatz Children Hospital Toy Dropoff - Dec. 21

Minnesota Timberwolves/Lynx and SPIRE Federal Credit Union staff members are conducting a toy drive from Nov. 26 to Dec. 17. On Friday, Dec. 21, Crunch and a Timberwolves player will drop the toys off at University of Minnesota's Amplatz Children's Hospital.

Grant Presentations - Dec. 7 and Dec. 12

The FastBreak Foundation will award two $5000 grants in December -- one to Sanford Children's during the Wolves game vs. Cleveland on Dec. 7 and the other to Hospitality House Youth Development during the Wolves game vs. Denver on Dec. 12. Sanford Children's delivers foundational care that is tailored to children and stays focused on the family. Sanford Children's has more than 90 pediatric physicians and over 70 specialties and services. Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD) provides a Christian outreach, focused on spiritual, intellectual and physical development of inner city youth and their families.
