Coach Wittman After First Pre-season Game

What were your thoughts on the game last night?
"I was pleased with last night. Forget the score, I wanted to see us put things to use in a real game, defensively in particular. The effort and execution defensively was pretty good. We have to continue to shore up on defense, one of those things being our transition and the bigs running the floor in transition. We did a lot of good things last night."

Are you going to clean anything up for the next game as far as who is starting?
"We'll look at different combinations. We probably won't go with the same lineup. We'll probably switch it around these next couple of games in particular."

Is it easier to gauge progress on defense?
"Your defense is always a little bit ahead of your offense. We don't have very much stuff in offensively, and I'm not really concerned about that right now. What we did scoring 117 points wasn't because of our offense, it was what we did defensively and how we defended. It will be interesting to see. We've got Oklahoma City, which is an up and down team. They like to get up and down with a lot of young guys. And then Denver, so we're going to see two teams that can score a lot of points."

Do you wish you had a home game coming up?
"No, I'd rather get it over with and have the eight days at home at the end of the month before opening up on the 29th.
