March 12, 2004 The Timberwolves set a franchise single-game Target Center attendance record with a standing-room-only crowd of 20,391 in Friday night's 96-86 win vs. Los Angeles. The Wolves' previous single-game club record of 20,347 was established earlier this season on Feb. 22, 2004 vs. San Antonio.
Minnesota has sold out four of its last five games at Target Center, and has registered 10 sellout crowds on the season. Through 34 games this season, the Timberwolves are averaging 17,308 per game. After 34 games in 2002-03, Minnesota averaged 15,482 per game. Three of the Wolves' top 10 all-time Target Center crowds have been set during the 2003-04 campaign, and the team has registered crowds of 20,000+ on five occasions.
The Wolves' all-time largest single-game crowd in franchise history was 49,551 vs. Denver on April 17, 1990 at the Metrodome in the final game of the team's inaugural season. The Timberwolves set the NBA single-season attendance record at the Metrodome with 1,072,572 in their first season. Minnesota played its home games at the Metrodome during its first season before moving to Target Center for the 1990-91 campaign.
On Nov. 18 vs. Denver, the Timberwolves passed the 10-million mark in all-time home attendance. Minnesota surpassed the milestone in its 563rd home game (Metrodome/Target Center), the second-fastest in league history behind the Charlotte Hornets (425 games).
