Wolves Announce Preseason Game at Sioux Falls Arena
The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that the team will play a 2009 preseason game at the Sioux Falls Arena, home of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Timberwolves' NBA D-League affiliate. Minnesota will host the Toronto Raptors on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
"We're thrilled to be returning to Sioux Falls and showcasing the NBA game for a great group of basketball fans," Timberwolves President Chris Wright said. "Not only will this game give fans an opportunity to see South Dakota native Mike Miller in action, but it continues our wonderful partnership with the Skyforce organization, which has been a great asset for us both on and off the court."
The Wolves' preseason game vs. Toronto this fall will be Minnesota's fifth exhibition visit to the Sioux Falls Arena, with the Wolves compiling a 3-1 record in their four previous appearances. Minnesota last visited Sioux Falls on Oct. 22, 2004, posting a 102-82 victory over the New York Knicks.
"The Skyforce is proud to be involved in bringing NBA basketball back to Sioux Falls," Skyforce Owner/President Mike Heineman said. "The Timberwolves have been wonderful to work with over the past couple of years and it's a testament to the relationship we have built for them to let us be involved in the announcement and promotion of this exciting event."
"SMG is thrilled to bring the Timberwolves back to town," SMG General Manager Russ DeCurtins said. "We look forward to working with both the Skyforce and Timberwolves, and expect fans will fill the arena."
The remainder of the Timberwolves 2009 preseason schedule will be released later this summer.
