Monday Practice Report

A collective sigh was heard across Wolves nation last Friday night. Second-year forward Kevin Love suffered a fractured fourth metacarpal in his left hand against the Bulls. The injury bug has hit this Minnesota squad once again but there is always a silver lining. With Love undergoing surgery on Tuesday, the Wolves will have ample time to adjust the lineup and grant significant minutes to post players.

"It's obviously a blow to our team but I've always looked at things as a coach the same way as a player," head coach Kurt Rambis said. "When somebody goes down, it's an opportunity for somebody else. The guys that are going to get those minutes have to use that as a golden opportunity to show us and other people around the league what they can do."

Al Jefferson is dealing with Achilles tendonitis and did not practice on Monday. The big man continues to work on his conditioning after the season-ending knee injury last February.

"He's got tendonitis in his Achilles, so we are just going to have to calm it down as much as possible. It all depends on how the treatments, medication, whatever they are doing for him, it all depends on how quickly it effects it," Rambis reacted to the status for Jefferson in Tuesday's game against Denver.

On Saturday night, rookie Jonny Flynn shined in a road loss to Milwaukee. The point guard scored 19 points and dished out five assists. Flynn also shot a solid percentage from the floor (7-for-14) while playing a team-high 27 minutes. The rookie felt a bit more comfortable on Saturday and looks to assert himself in the next three preseason games leading up to the opener on October 28.

"It just takes time. This is an offense Jonah that takes a lot of time to get used to, a lot of us are used to just running up and down the floor and really playing a lot more free basketball but this is a great system. It was a system made for champions if you look at the Bulls and Lakers. We are just getting better, as time goes on we are getting better and that is a good sign," Flynn said.

Flynn shared his pregame playlist and thoughts on Sunday's NFL action. The New York native was not too pleased with the Giants loss to the Saints. He added commentary on the Vikings 6-0 start to the season and Brett Favre.

"It's unbelievable. He [Favre] is the luckiest man I swear. He is the luckiest 40-year old man ever. I said on one of my twitter posts, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw the news and he won the lottery. It seems like everything just goes his way. He has this town on fire and hopefully we can bring some of those fans into the Target Center," Flynn said.

"We run this town, that is definitely first. Some old school Jay-Z, Dead Presidents, gotta throw some Biggie, DMX, there is a lot of mixture of everything. I even have some R&B in there, a little Usher, so it isn't all hardcore," Flynn discussing his pregame playlist.

The team now heads west to Denver for a preseason matchup on Tuesday night. The Wolves play three games this week to conclude the preseason schedule.
