Osseo vs. Sioux Falls Roosevelt Recap

Osseo finished last year with a 28-1 record and the squad looks just as strong in 2008-09. The Orioles head coach Tim Theisen watched his team shine without the services of its star player for most of the 73-43 victory over Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Sam Dower, the 6-foot-9 center was saddled with two early fouls and had to sit on the bench with 13 minutes left in the first half. Dower signed with Gonzaga and scored in double figures in 23 of 29 games last season for the Orioles.

Dower returned to the floor in the second half and instantly produced offense with six straight buckets. Osseo continued to build on top of a large lead behind the scoring of the left-handed Dower. Despite the foul trouble, Dower finished with 22 points in the game.

On the other side, Cody Larson is headed to Iowa next season but made his presence felt with 14 points to lead the Roughriders. Marcus Watson added nine points for Roosevelt in the losing effort.

Both teams struggled to establish an offensive flow in the first half. With Dower heading to the bench at the 13:09 mark, Osseo then made a 12-4 run behind pressure defense that forced 13 Roughriders turnovers for the game.
