Monday Practice Notes

The Wolves are a banged up team heading into the two-game West Coast trip early this week. Head coach Kevin McHale told reporters that Rodney Carney suffered a hip injury in the loss to Denver on Sunday night. Carney joined Craig Smith, Randy Foye, and Kevin Love in the group of the walking wounded Wolves. Foye will not make the trip to Los Angeles and Golden State but Love is feeling better after a bout with the flu on Sunday.

Love is expected to return to the floor on Tuesday night against the Clippers. After missing his first game of the season, Love talked about the disappointment of not playing all 82 games as a rookie. Love also discussed his conditioning in comparison to last year at UCLA and his plan for the offseason.

Kevin Ollie is taking an optimistic approach to the final five games of the season. The veteran point guard stepped into the starting lineup and is providing defense for this young Wolves squad. Ollie feels the team has built character over the last couple of weeks after taking the court without several key players.

Craig Smith hopes to suit up for the Wolves in the contest against Los Angeles on Tuesday night. With a sore calf muscle, Smith has struggled to practice for the past couple of weeks. Minnesota will need the added depth in the frontcourt as the team looks to gain momentum for the 2009-10 season.
