Kevin Love Injury Update

Wolves forward Kevin Love suffered a fractured fourth metacarpal in his left hand. The injury occurred in the third quarter of the Chicago Bulls contest on Friday night. X-rays were taken at the arena and a timetable for his return is yet to be determined.

Kurt Rambis, Minnesota head coach:
Q: On Kevin Love's injury.
"I can't state now how long he may be out. Things like that just happen in ballgames. It's unfortunate and it will have an impact on our team. It is however, an opportunity for someone else to step up."

Q: On Pecherov's play.
"He has been in the league for a few years. He did not always get a lot of playing time. He needs to learn what he can do and how it fits in our system. He is a real asset with his length and shooting. He needs to get in synch with our offense and that will come as he gets more playing time. The threes he took at the end of the game were designed for him as one of our options. The first one he was wide open but it was not shot with confidence. When he is open like that he is capable of drilling it. He's that kind of shooter and I like his length and size."

Q: On their play tonight.
"We have to find a way to defend the ball better and also rebound better. We're not doing those really well now. With Kevin out, it's an opportunity for our other bigs to step up now. Jefferson needs to stretch out some of his game. He is still figuring out our offense and where his shots will come from. I've been asking him to do a lot of things that he's never done before in his career. Early in the game we wanted to get the ball inside to him but they did a good job pushing Al out and away from the basket."

Q: On Jonny Flynn.
"His shooting and ball handling are huge strengths in his game. He got a little sloppy in there at times and that's when I had to sub for him. That's part of youth and exuberance resulting in turnovers. He just has to get used to playing at this level with this caliber player which is different from college."

Kevin Love, Minnesota forward:
Q: On his injury.
"I was on the right block, there was a missed free throw, I went to go grab it and I hit Pech's elbow with my left hand pretty hard and it ended up being broken. I was in such a good rhythm. I felt if I could get some solid minutes I could put up some good numbers and really produce for the team. The other thing is just being out here with my teammates, building chemistry with guys I haven't played with for a bunch of years, that's really disappointing. Hopefully I'll be able to come back by the end of November or early December. Fortunately it's my non-shooting hand."
