2013 EuroBasket Roundup | Sept. 22, 2013

The Spain National Team capped off its 2013 EuroBasket run on Sunday with a 92-66 win over Croatia in the third place game in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Spain wrapped up the tournament with a 7-4 record.

After losing to eventual champion France in overtime on Friday in the tournament’s semifinal matchup, Spain rebounded by shooting 50 percent from the field, hitting 12 3-pointers and grabbing control early. After Croatia went up 28-27 with 4:55 left in the first half, Spain went on a 20-8 run heading into halftime. It was a lead Spain never relinquished.

Ricky Rubio wrapped up his EuroBasket tournament with six points on 3-of-3 shooting while also adding a game-high six assists. He had two steals and added two rebounds on the night. Rubio wrapped up the tournament averaging 7.2 points per game while adding 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals and shooting 46.3 percent from the field.

Sergio Llull finished with a team-high 21 points, while Marc Gasol had 17 points and eight rebounds. Victor Claver had 16 points, while Jose Calderon and Rudy Fernandez each had eight points.

For Croatia, Bojan Bogdanovic led the way with a game-high 22 points. He finished the tournament averaging 17.5 points per game.

In the championship game, France topped Lithuania 80-66. It was Team France’s first Gold Medal in EuroBasket history. Nicolas Batum led the way with 17 points, while Boris Diaw had 15 and Tony Parker had 12.
