The Phoenix Suns gave us inspiration to take a look back through the different stages of Timberwolves.com and display the evolution from the inaugural site in 1996 to the present. We’re not certain if you remember the first Motorola clamshell cell phone, but that made its debut at the same time Timberwolves.com came on board. From 1996-2000, this site design lasted us all the way to the start of a new decade where the "brick" Nokia phone was the popular choice.
2000-2003: The first format change came in the new decade. It had Kevin Garnett written all over it, rightfully so as the site started to evolve with him and kept the green look and feel through 2003 before another site change took over. (Ironically, by 2003 you could also finally purchase a green Nokia phone, along with other colors available.)
2004-2005: As we shifted from colored Nokias and the popular Blackberrys and Razrs, so did Timberwolves.com. The blue tones finally started to set a different tone along with the introduction to the top bar navigation.
2006-2008: Blackberrys increasingly got more popular as well as the use of Flash. From 2006-08 Timberwolves.com transformed into a top navigating site only and catered to more interaction with the fans including weekly polls.
2008-2009: With the iPhone become worldly popular, so did larger graphics and the importance of eye catching imagery. TImberwolves.com transferred to a pretty basic background relying on the content and banners to catch the eyes of viewers.
2010-2011: The largest shake up to Timberwolves.com came in 2010 when the layout evolved to include a new top story slider, more audio, video and content options, along with the addition of keep on trend with a social stream on the homepage.
2012-2013: The cold winter months (note header) and the return of Rubio brought on another large facelift for Timberwolves.com in 2012. The darker site skin of half wolf/half Rubio transferred the look and feel along with a lighter content look. Features with WolvesNation and a content .Com Guide were also added.
2013: Timberwolves.com was once again restructured in 2013 with a new skin celebrating the 25th anniversary season, the addition of the Timberwolves Entertainment Network, and a new top story module to handle more headline and audio content.
Who says you can't celebrate holidays at Timberwolves.com? Well, we are very much St. Patty's Day fans around here, and in March 2014 we added a new skin with Kevin Love in the background and pot o' luck header. We were already collecting our lucky charms in preparing for another redesign the following month.
April 2014: In April of 2014, the NBA started a league wide mobile-responsive site redesign. With the increase in mobile technology they wanted to make sure the experience was appealing to everyone whether it be desktop, tablet, or mobile. Welcome to the new (and current) Timberwolves.com!
