As part of WolvesCare month the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation helped to prepare and serve meals to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis on Thursday.
Wolves rookies Randy Foye and Craig Smith helped serve families with breaded chicken breasts, parmesan potatoes, Italian green beans, green salad with chow mien noodles and mandarin oranges, dinner rolls, and assorted desserts.
"It was a great event," said Tony Saputo, Director of Marketing and Communications for Ronald McDonald House. "Our families really had an incredible time. Athletes are role models for the children at the House, and they provide motivation.
"To have the Wolves here providing that extra dose of support and care really goes a long way."
The Wolves partnered with Hadassah to help prepare and serve the meal for an organization that was the team's signature charity in 2002.
"The commitment from the Wolves has continued and we are grateful for the support."
"Ronald McDonald House has become a special place for the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation, players and staff over the years," said Katie Mattis, the Wolves Sr. Manager of Community Relations. "The services they provide for families at a critical time in their lives is immeasurable. As part of our WolvesCare initiatives, we're happy to make a $1,000 donation to their Cooks for Kids program which provides meals for the families who stay at the house."
After dinner, Foye and Smith signed autographs, and helped distribute t-shirts, tickets and Wolves yearbooks.
"It was fun to watch the children interacting with the players, who were both great with the children," said Saputo. "They seemed to really have an enjoyable time. The prizes and items the staff brought was much appreciated by our families."
The Fastbreak Foundation continues its support of the community in WolvesCare Month with a Reading Time Out at the Ronald McDonald House on January 30th.
