New Season, New Beginnings reflects the excitement and opportunity a new NBA season brings not only to basketball enthusiast, but also the communities in which we play. It means highlighting those who work hard to create new opportunities for Minnesota's youth: creating renewed spaces, energy and attitudes for learning and community development.

FastBreak Foundation and International Wolf Center: As part of The FastBreak Foundation's October New Season's New Beginnings programming, the Minnesota Timberwolves partnered with the International Wolf Center to celebrate Wolf Awareness week. The International Wolf Center offered one of its Wolflink programs to the students at Jefferson Elementary. Wolflink provides interactive, videoconferencing programs to educate students in real-time who will virtually visit the International Wolf Center from their classroom. After the Wolflink programming, students from Jefferson Elementary listened to Timberwolves players Wayne Ellington and Kosta Koufos read a story with Timberwolves mascot, Crunch. They read the story The True Story of the Three Little Pigs to an audience of students. Following the reading, Timberwolves players and Crunch had a Q & A about the book and passed out prizes to the students.

FastBreak Foundation Basketball Reading and Learning Center Dedication: As part of The FastBreak Foundation's October New Season's New Beginnings programming the Minnesota Timberwolves dedicated and officially opened the newly renovated Reading Learning Center at Maxfield Magnet Elementary school in St. Paul presented by Hennepin County Medical Center and the Roger and Nancy McCabe Foundation. This event, hosted by Timberwolves broadcaster Tom Hanneman included speakers from Maxfield Magnet Elementary, as well as the Minnesota Timberwolves. After the ribbon cutting ceremony Minnesota Timberwolves players Lazar Hayward and Anthony Tolliver along with mascot Crunch read a story with children attending.

New furniture, wall graphics and paint were all part of the makeover in the Tutoring and Team Building rooms. The Reading and Learning Center is part of a yearly renovation project done by the FastBreak Foundation. On Tuesday, August 17, 2010 the staff of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx donated over 500 hours to remodel the learning space. Hardware Hank donated all of the painting supplies.

FastBreak Foundation Basketball Court Refurbishment Dedication: As part of The FastBreak Foundation's October New Season's New Beginnings programming the Minnesota Timberwolves dedicated the newly renovated basketball court at Minneapolis' Sojourner Truth Academy. This event, hosted by Timberwolves radio broadcaster Alan Horton included speakers from Sojourner Truth Academy as well as the Minnesota Timberwolves. After the presentation Minnesota Timberwolves players Jonny Flynn, Kosta Koufos and Lazar Hayward led a basketball clinic with the children attending. This renovation was made possible with a donation made by former Timberwolves player Ryan Hollins, as well as, the FastBreak Foundation.
