Read to Achieve

The NBA, Timberwolves, and American Family Insurance have partnered to implement Read to Achieve, a year-round literacy program to help young people develop a lifelong love of reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. Reaching an estimated 50 million children a year, Read to Achieve is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports.

With over 4,000 participants, last season marked the third consecutive year of the Timberwolves Read to Achieve Reading Incentive program. This program was distributed to all elementary schools in the five-county metropolitan area. The Timberwolves also hosted monthly Reading Time Outs, where Timberwolves players, coaches, and staff read to almost 2,600 students and shared the importance of literacy. Timberwolves Reading Corners were also created at People Serving People in Minneapolis and the Mount Airy Boys and Girls Club in St. Paul.
