CBS Sports Ranks Wolves Starters 12th Best In NBA

We are approaching the start of the NBA season. Sure, we are still two months away, but this is when we love to read projections and a bunch of other stuff that really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

But if you’re a Wolves fan, all of this is pretty promising right now. After winning the offseason, experts are pretty high on the team going into the season.

The folks at CBS Sports (including friend Zach Harper, I would guess), listed the Timberwolves starters as the 12th best group in the NBA. They projected the starting five to be Ricky Rubio, Zach LaVine, Andrew Wiggins, Gorgui Dieng and Karl-Anthony Towns.

That was the starting lineup the team finished last season with and the team ended the last three months with a 15-18 record. This group will be better next season with familiarity and just natural progression.

Here’s what CBS Sports had to say about the Wolves:

Votes ranging between 9-17 for the very young Wolves --that's how much we believe in Karl-Anthony Towns and the coaching of Tom Thibodeau. Towns will turn 21 this season. Wiggins and LaVine will turn 22. Even with their potential, it's asking a lot to assume they'll be in the top half of the league, but that's what Thibodeau will demand and Towns is that good.

Obviously there’s more to a team than just the starting lineup, but with the Wolves adding Thibodeau as coach, along with Kris Dunn, Brandon Rush, Jordan Hill and Cole Aldrich on the bench, well, could we be talking about playo…

OK, I won’t go there yet. But at some point, we’ll have to talk about it.
